is located 20 miles north of Santa Rosa.
It's just minutes from Lake Sonoma, which is one of the
premeire man made lakes in northern California. Healdsburg
is surrounded by vineyards and redwoods, and
tucked between the Alexander Valley, Russian River and Dry
Creek valleys and surrounded by more than 60 wineries. Healdsburg
has become one of best kept secrets in sonoma county. It's
beautiful little town that has tons to offer.
The Russian River runs along the backside
of Healdsburg and provides, canoing, swimming, fishing and
sun bathing in the summer.
Healdsburgs small town charm is evident
in its traditional Spanish-style plaza, rimmed with
shops, cafes, galleries, spas, and restaurants. During the
summer you can enjoy free public concerts, wine tasting
and gatherings in the park on Sunday afternoons.
Healdsurg is the doorway to the wine country.Veteran's
Memorial Beach on the Russian River offers a great open
sandy beach for swimming, picnicking and kayak rentals.
A beautiful 10-mile drive out Dry Creek
road to the west through the vineyards will take you
to Lake Sonoma, a 2,700-acre lake where you can enjoy boating,
swimming, camping, and water skiing, and visit the
Lake Sonoma fish hatchery.
Over the last several years,
since about 2000, this sleepy little town has had a significant
facelift, adding high end resturants, lodging, and wine
tasting rooms featuring some of the finest wines in Sonoma
County. Some of the residental areas in this cute little
town are just beautiful old country style homes with large
porches, and lots of history. Just the kind of place you
might want to retire in.
