| The
Town of Bodega..Just five
miles inland from the coast, perched on a hillside, you
will find the tiny town of Bodega.
Alfred Hitchcock made this town famous
when he filmed The Birds there in 1962. Look
up on the hill and you will see the old Potter School
House and picturesque St. Teresa's Church, which may seem
hauntingly familiar.
It's home to a few shops, a resturant and
a little tavern, a couple of antique shops, and a surf shop.
The pace is slow and the ambiance set by the backdrop of
the sea, rolling hills, and an old cemetary.
You can smell the ocean in the breeze, but
don't sneeze or you'll miss it. Stop in at the Tavern for
food and beverages and tell them Wes from Sonoma County
Mall sent you... they'll probably throw you out.... ha ha.
It's amazing how hollywood can make even
the smallest town so big on screen, I remember watching
The Birds on Black and White TV late at nite and being scared
to death...it is a classic thriller.. Don't miss this gem,
it's definitely a piece of movieAnericana.
